Maine receives grant to help laid-off workers

The United States Department of Labor recently gave Maine $317,000 to provide re-employment services for the 90 workers affected by the January closure of San Antonio Shoe in Pittsfield.

The Maine Department of Labor will use the funds to offer skills assessment, counseling, job search assistance and case management -- assistance not provided by federal Trade Adjustment Assistance -- to the former shoe workers.
