Maine snowmobile clubs get federal boost

The Maine snowmobile industry is getting a boost from the federal government.

USDA's Rural Development office announced Tuesday the awarding of $120,400 in Rural Business Enterprise Grants to two rural snowmobile clubs.

Moosehead Riders Inc. in Greenville is receiving a $75,000 grant and Portage Lakers Sno-Mobile Club Inc. in Portage Lake is receiving a $45,400 grant, both for the purchase of their own snowmobile trail groomer.

Fifty projects across the country have received a total of $4.9 million as part of the federal RBEG program, which aims to support small and emerging rural businesses.
