Maine Source Homes & Realty of Auburn said it is celebrating 50 years in the business by giving back to the Lewiston-Auburn community.

The company’s “Helping Our Neighbors Campaign” identified six local nonprofits and charities it plans to support this year.

In June, the company gave donated $2,150 to Lewiston's ACADIA Charter School, the second of the beneficiaries.

Jon Mercier, a broker with the firm, presented the check. Notable contributions came from agent Deb Morin, Androscoggin Homes, Action Screen Printing, and Maine Source Homes customer Chris Brann.

ACADIA is an acronym for “A Charter Academy for Developing Independence and Achievement.” The school targets the development of the whole child through a strong social/emotional learning component, as well as by offering highly differentiated academic instruction for all students, according to a news release.

The children benefit from the academic approach by becoming strong, independent students who self-advocate and get to know themselves as learners.

The “Helping Our Neighbor Campaign” is funded by Maine Source Homes & Realty realtors and clients. For each house-closing that the company assists clients with during a given two-month period throughout 2022, the company donates $100 to one of the beneficiaries. In turn, Maine Source Homes & Realty asks the selling or buying realtor, along with the client, if they would like to match the donation.
