MaineToday leaders resign
Two MaineToday Media executives announced their resignations Friday. CEO Richard Connor will leave at the end of the year, while President Dale Duncan stepped down immediately.
Connor, who has managed the company since an investment group he led bought the company in 2009, cited a need for change for his resignation, according to the Portland Press Herald, one of MaineToday's publications. "After four years of work with a schedule that has been around the clock ... it's time for change for me personally, my family, and for the company," he said in a statement. He said he "led a significant transformation" of the former Blethen Maine Newspapers, noting that MaineToday recently reported the first increase in paid circulation in five years. The company's board plans to immediately begin searching for a new CEO. Connor remains an investor with the company, which also owns the Kennebec Journal, the Morning Sentinel and the Coastal Journal.
Dale Duncan, who served as MaineToday president when the position was created in July, stepped down on Friday because the "owners want new leadership," he told the paper.
