Darrell McCrum, co-owner of the largest potato farm in Maine, was in New York City this week as part of a national Frito Lay ad campaign.

McCrum is one of five potato growers from across the country, and the only one from Maine, selected by Lay's Potato Chips for a national advertising campaign that emphasizes locally grown potatoes, according to the Bangor Daily News. McCrum is a fifth-generation potato farmer and co-owns County Super Spuds in Mars Hill, which owns nearly 6,000 acres of potato fields in Aroostook County. McCrum estimates his farm has sold 2,300 trailer loads of potatoes to Lay's in the 23 years he's contracted with them, according to the paper.

In New York City, McCrum helped Lay's kick off the ad campaign by ringing the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange on Tuesday and also participated in a commercial television shoot, according to the Daily News.
