Maryland co. breathes life into Dielectric

A Maryland company has agreed to purchase the Raymond-based antenna maker Dielectric Communications from Charlotte, N.C.-based SPX Communications, which announced plans to close and lay off its 55 Maine workers in April.

The Baltimore Business Journal reported Sinclair Broadcoast Group Inc., based in Fort Hunt, Md., plans to operate Dielectric as a wholly owned subsidiary and continue operations in Raymond. Dielectric previously announced plans to close June 29.

The paper reported the purchase, for an undisclosed price, is the latest in a series for Sinclair, which has been buying a number of television stations. The paper did not report how many jobs might return to the Raymond operation as a result.
