A Medicare-contracted health benefits plan with 80 workers in New Gloucester hopes to hire another 40 or 50 there, according to a news release Wednesday.

Devoted Health, which is based in Waltham, Mass., and claims to be one of the fastest-growing Medicare Advantage plans in the U.S., is looking to fill the Maine positions before year-end.

Openings include jobs as member service guides, the main point of support for health plan members, and clinical outreach specialists, who help members navigate the care system to find the right services.

The benefits provider will hold a hiring event next Saturday, July 24, from noon to 3 p.m. at the Devoted Health offices, 15 Farm View Drive on the Pineland Farms campus in New Gloucester. The event will include employee presentations, tours, food and drink, and family-friendly activities.

Devoted Health doubled the size of its New Gloucester workforce from 40 employees during 2020, according to the news release. The health plan is one of nearly 50 tenants at Pineland Farms, a sprawling, bucolic business campus that was once state property and has been privately developed over the past 20 years.

Larry Henry, Devoted Health senior vice president and head of health plan operations, said, “Our team in New Gloucester is filled with talented and dedicated people who improve the health care experience for our members every day by building authentic human relationships and trust with the people we serve. We’re incredibly excited to expand our team with more great people ready to support our mission.”

Devoted Health was co-founded in 2017 by Todd Park, a founder of the $10 billion health care technology company Athenahealth, and Ed Park, former Athenahealth chief technology officer and chief operating officer.

In addition to its New Gloucester office and Massachusetts headquarters, Devoted Health has offices in Florida and California. In 2018 the company raised $300 million in Series B financing in order to expand its Florida presence. In January 2020, the company employed 400 people nationwide and served 16,000 members, according to a separate news release.

Medicare Advantage plans are offered by private insurance companies contracted to provide health benefits under Medicare, the federal health services program for elderly and disabled Americans.
