New hires

Northern Light Pediatric Surgery in Bangor hired Sean Barnett as a pediatric surgeon specializing in all aspects of pediatric surgery using minimally invasive techniques. Barnett is board certified by the American Board of Surgery with special qualifications in pediatric surgery and retains a position as associate professor of surgery at Boonshoft School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio.

The city of Portland hired Bob Fowler as public health director. Fowler was previously executive director at Milestone Recovery.

Colby College in Waterville hired Jacqueline Terrassa as the Carolyn Muzzy director of the Colby College Museum of Art. Terrassa, who currently serves as the woman’s board vice president for learning and public engagement at the Art Institute of Chicago, will assume her role in October.

Promotions

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Maine promoted Jonathan Edwards to regional vice president of sales. Edwards most recently served as the director of sales.

Maine Community College System in Augusta promoted Betsy Libby to interim president of Central Maine Community College in Auburn for the 2020-2021 academic year. Libby, who has worked at the college since 2006, was previously vice president.

Appointments

Gov. Janet Mills appointed the Rev. Kenneth Lewis Jr., senior pastor at Green Memorial African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church in Portland, and Isaiah Reid, a student at University of Maine at Farmington, as representatives to the permanent Commission on the Status of Racial, Indigenous and Maine Tribal Populations.

The Maine Real Estate & Development Association in Portland elected Josh Fifield, a senior account executive in the business insurance department of Clark Insurance in Portland, as board president. The association also announced its 2020-2022 slate of officers including Shannon Richards, Hay Runner, and Craig Young, the Boulos Co., vice presidents; Mark Stasium, Camden National Bank, treasurer; and Shelly Clark, the association’s vice president of operations, secretary.

Kids First Center, a nonprofit in Scarborough, elected Susan Wiggin as president of its board of directors. Wiggin operates her own private practice, Child-Centered Solutions. The organization also added Steve Young and Chelsea Torrey to its board. Young is a child and family therapist who helped found Touchstone Associates while Torrey is a mortgage loan officer at Town & Country Federal Credit Union.

Northern Light Health in Brewer elected Kathy Corey, owner and vice president of merchandising and human resources for Day’s Jewelers, as chair of its board of directors and Stephen Rich, retired president and CEO of WBRC Architects/Engineers, as vice chair. Additionally, Marcia Conrad-Miller, vice president, sector lead health and life sciences New England at CGI; Kevin Raye, a realtor and licensed associate broker for Due East Real Estate in Eastport, co-owner of Raye’s Mustard Mill and a former state senator and senate president; and Steve St. Pierre, a vice president/business banker at KeyBank, North America, were added to the board.

The Maine Bankers Association in Westbrook elected Robert Montgomery-Rice, president and CEO of Bangor Savings Bank, as chair and Curtis Simard, president and CEO of Bar Harbor Bank & Trust, as vice chair. Elected to the executive committee for a two-year term expiring in June 2022 was Glenn Hutchinson, president and CEO of Bath Savings Institution, while Stephen deCastro, president and CEO of Gorham Savings Bank, Jeanne Hulit, president and CEO of Maine Community Bank, and Timothy Thompson, president and CEO of Franklin Savings Bank, were elected to the executive committee for three-year terms expiring in June 2023.

Achievements

Waynflete, a private school in Portland, named Charlie Miller the recipient of its “2020 Klingenstein Award.” Miller is a philanthropist who serves on the board of the Boys and Girls Club, Portland Public Library (with a focus on advocating for the teen center), Maine Humanities Council, Mayo Street Arts and has tutored at the Telling Room.

The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife named Joey Lefebvre as its “2019 Maine Game Warden of the Year” and Tim Spahr its “2019 Maine Game Warden Supervisor of the Year.” Lefebvre patrols Lincoln and Knox counties while Spahr oversees York and Cumberland counties.

Geiger, a promotional products distributor in Lewiston, announced that Dale Denham was recognized by Constellation Research in its “2021 Business Transformation 150,” a list of executives leading business transformation efforts around the globe. Denham is senior vice president and chief information officer with the company.
