Portland International Jetport will expand service from JetBlue Airways and Southwest Airlines in the summer of 2022, with the carriers flying to New York City and Nashville respectively.

JetBue will add flights between Portland and LaGuardia Airport flight daily, starting July 9.

“We are grateful to see JetBlue expanding in Portland during the summer,” said Paul Bradbury, Airport Director. “Starting in July, JetBlue will service both New York City LaGuardia and JFK airports making it very convenient to get from Portland to New York and beyond” he continued.

With the announcement, JetBlue adds nonstop service to LaGuardia, in addition to its long-standing New York JFK service.

Meanwhile, Southwest Airlines will add one flight to and from Nashville on Saturdays, starting June 11.

“Southwest has been a great partner over the past 10 years and we are excited to welcome Nashville, their third non-stop destination, out of Portland,” Bradbury said.

The new Nashville service will be in addition to Southwest’s existing service to Baltimore/Washington and Chicago Midway airports.

“As Maine’s home airport we are focused on providing the service that our community wants,” said Zach Sundquist, assistant airport director. “We are always looking at our top unserved markets and working to find partners to provide nonstop service to those markets.

The additional flights come after American Airlines said last month it would discontinue flights between New York’s LaGuardia Airport and both Portland and Bangor, starting Jan. 4.

Delta also offers flights between the Jetport and LaGuardia.
