Quoddy Bay LNG, the company that wants to build a liquefied natural gas terminal on Pleasant Point in Washington County, yesterday said it would postpone or temporarily withdraw its application from the state review process, according to a press release from the company.
The Oklahoma-based company said it would postpone the review because of potential changes to its plans, including dropping certian infrastructure investments to save money, as well as unresolved federal procedural issues, including a pending lawsuit filed by a group of Passamaquoddy tribal members that challenges the permit the Bureau of Indian Affairs granted Quoddy Bay LNG, according to the release.
Quoddy Bay LNG is one of three companies proposing to build an LNG facility in Washington County. Downeast LNG has proposed a facility in nearby Robbinston, while a third group, Calais LNG, has proposed a facility in Calais.
