Three municipalities share $325K in small biz funds

Three Maine municipalities will share $325,000 in federal grants or loans to benefit small businesses.

The state's Department of Economic and Community Development announced Friday that Belfast will get $150,000 to go toward 24 small business projects, Kennebunk will receive $150,000 for projects at six businesses and Lubec will get $25,000 to help fund dock improvements for small charter boat operators.

The money comes through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's Micro-Enterprise Assistance Grant, which are grants or loans for businesses that can be used as working capital, as well as paying for interior renovations and some exterior improvements.
