Retailers may be in for a lean holiday shopping season, with 79% of Americans looking this year to spend less on gifts than usual, according to data from McKinsey & Co.
That percentage is 5% greater than the portion who were looking to economize in their 2022 holiday shopping.
On the other hand, holiday spending this year could be buoyed by recent progress in curbing inflation.
