Kennebec Valley Community Action Program (KVCAP)

2022 Goals

KVCAP’s primary goal has not changed in 56 years – to create sustainable solutions to poverty for individuals, families, and communities. We utilize a whole family approach, understanding that responding to the needs of all household members is the most effective way to break the cycle of poverty and ensure movement toward financial and social stability. KVCAP completes an in-depth Community Needs Assessment every three years. The results are the backbone of our strategic planning process, which includes individual/family level goals, community level goals, and agency/sustainability goals. In addition to providing a wide range of direct services, we partner with hundreds of other entities to address local needs through collaborative efforts and mutual respect.

Fundraising Events / Opportunities

KVCAP will be hosting its 8th Annual Golf Tournament, renamed the Mark K. Johnston Memorial Golf Tournament in 2019, on June 24, 2022 at Lakewood Golf Course in Madison, Maine. To become an event sponsor to register a team, contact Andrea Pasco at andreap@kvcap.org or visit kvcap.org.

Giving Opportunities

We have several giving opportunities at KVCAP. To learn more, contact Andrea Pasco at andreap@kvcap.org.

  • Donors can make a one-time or recurring gift on our website: kvcap.org.
  • KVCAP holds annual appeals in the spring and fall to raise unrestricted funds to support agency capacity. Donors may also choose to designate their gift to a specific program or initiative.
  • Employer matching gifts, planned gifts, and gifts of stock are always welcomed.
  • Become a Community Investor! Sign up and receive a weekly email highlighting a specific need when no other resource exists. Investors are lifesavers, financially contributing to address situations that threaten an individual’s or family’s stability. Common requests are for car repairs, security deposits, and medical items.

KVCAP’s mission is to strengthen individuals, families and communities by providing direct services and by partnering with others to create sustainable solutions to poverty in an ever-changing environment.

Volunteer Opportunities

In lieu of our annual Community Celebration, KVCAP will host a Drive-Thru Food & Fun Event on October 6, 2021 in Skowhegan, Augusta, and Waterville. We will offer children’s enrichment bags that include activities and ideas for other low-cost projects, and books donated by the Waterville Rotary Club. Food bags with recipes and ingredients to make 3 meals will also be available. People will be dressed in character costumes for a festive flair. To volunteer, contact Andrea Pasco at andreap@kvcap.org.

KVCAP’s South End Teen Center in Waterville welcomes volunteers who can dedicate time to engage with members, share a talent or passion, or provide homework support. Contact Lexy Cole at lcole@kvcap.org.

KVCAP is always seeking new Volunteer Drivers for our Transportation Department. Drivers are reimbursed for their mileage, bringing people to and from medical appointments. Contact Steve Soule at steves@kvcap.org.
