Waban

2021 Goals

Waban runs comprehensive programs throughout southern Maine, which help children and adults with developmental disabilities live the most fulfilling lives possible.

Looking forward to 2021, our goals are to:

  • Continue to respond to the increasing incidence of autism in children (1 in 68) by encouraging early diagnosis and intervention in order to reduce lifetime care costs.
  • Provide enrichment opportunities in order for children and adolescents to reach their full potential. The Fraser-Ford Child Development Center provides full day, year-long special purpose therapeutic preschool and kindergarten through fourth grade programs in an inclusive environment.
  • Using specialized and up-to-date technology to enable a continuum of care as our Members age in place.
  • Increase the number and skill levels of our dedicated and committed staff through targeted workforce development, enhanced trainings and staff support.

Fundraising Events/Opportunities

The Annual Waban Telethon is Waban’s foremost fundraising event

  • In March of 2020, we shifted the telethon to an online version. And as we gear up for the 50th anniversary of the Telethon in 2021, we’ll once again adapt to current conditions. This important fundraiser benefits Waban’s Fraser-Ford Child Development Center and its Children’s Case Management Services. 2021 will shift to a digital event with plenty of fun and great items to bid on.

Every September Waban hosts its annual Golf Tournament.

  • Funds raised at the golf tournament support Waban’s athletes at the Maine Special Olympics.

Annual Fund Drive

  • A donation to the fund drive automatically enrolls donors as members of the Waban Association. Proceeds benefit all Waban programs.
