2026 Book of Lists reflects changes in leadership and ‘list toppers’
The 1900s had the Roaring Twenties. I’m not sure what this decade is called, but it is moving quickly. As we head into the second half of the decade, anyone in the business community knows it’s helpful if you’re nimble and can change with the times — whether it throws you a pandemic, a recession or just new regulations and challenges.
The 2026 Mainebiz Book of Lists helps make sense of the business world in Maine. You’ll see new leaders (updated even as we were going to press). It’s possible no list reflects as many changes as the largest law firms list (on Page 66), which has a new top firm and several new managing partners.
For a quick overview, we offer the “List toppers,” which starts on Page 6. The lists run in focus sections throughout the year, and are compiled and updated for this publication.

The cover features heavy equipment used at the South Portland axe maker Brant & Cochran. Photographer Tim Greenway captured the image as part of his coverage for the Made in Maine column, which was introduced as a regular Mainebiz feature this past year and will continue in 2025. Tim has been taking photos for Mainebiz for the past two decades and we are grateful for his stellar work and his steady work ethic.
