25 jobs cut at textile plant in Guilford

True Textiles Inc., formerly known as Interface Fabrics Inc. and Guilford of Maine, recently eliminated 25 jobs at its Guilford plants, reported the Bangor Daily News.

A drop in business was blamed. True Textiles is a producer of panel fabric, including Terratex, a fabric made from 100% recycled plastic soda bottles and corn. The company also is a worldwide supplier of fabrics for seating and wall coverings for offices.

Among its three Maine factories, True Textiles employs 520 people. A spokesman for the company told the paper that some employees were given severance packages. A local rapid-response team is expected to be on site Wednesday to help the affected workers, he said.
