Bangor company gets $75M Army contract

The United States Army last week awarded Telford Aviation in Bangor a $75 million contract extension to continue maintenance work on military aircraft and aerial surveillance equipment.

The Army has approved an initial $26.4 million of the nine-month contract, which Telford has held for the past three years, but Telford President Bob Ziegelaar told Mainebiz this morning he fully expects the rest of the work will be approved over the life of the contract.

Only a minor portion of the work will be done in Bangor, Ziegelaar said, with most occurring in Iraq and Afghanistan, or at Telford's facilities in Maryland, Texas and Alabama.
