Bangor Savings Bank is opening its 68th branch under the leadership of a new branch manager in Bar Harbor on May 1.
The newest location at 112 Cottage St. is the fourth in Hancock County.
Construction began in mid-October and was completed by Dunbar and Brawn Construction, TAC Architectural Group, Hewett and Whitney Engineers, Sevee and Maher Engineers, Structural Integrity Consulting and CJ Developers.
Bangor Savings Bank funded the project, one of the many planned projects for the bank in 2023.
New Branch Manager Rachel Bunker has been with Bangor Savings Bank for two years, working as the assistant branch manager at the bank’s Machias branch.
The Ellsworth native received her bachelor's in international business and logistics from Maine Maritime Academy.
“Rachel has been an instrumental leader in helping with internal, strategic Bank initiatives while fostering a team that delivers exceptional customer experiences,” said Jaclyn Silk, vice president and regional market manager. “We are thrilled for Rachel to lead our recently opened Bar Harbor branch location, and look forward to her and her team forming new customer relationships while becoming part of the already thriving community.”
The bank declined to comment on how many employees the Bar Harbor location will have.
“Our team looks forward to welcoming customers to our new Cottage Street branch, where we will offer a full suite of banking resources for consumers and businesses of all sizes," said Tricia Duchesneau, senior vice president and director of consumer banking. "Bangor Savings Bank is grateful to the community for welcoming us to the area and eager to begin serving customers and building new partnerships.”
At the new Bar Harbor branch, Bangor Savings will offer a range of financial services, including mortgage and business partner offices, a coin counter, an ATM and personal and business banking.
Bangor Savings, founded in 1852, has more than 60 branches in Maine and New Hampshire and business and loan production offices in Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts.
With more than $7 billion in assets as of June 30, 2022, Bangor Savings tops the list of the largest Maine-based banks in the recently published 2023 Mainebiz Book of Lists.
