Bath Area YMCA’s Chief Operating Officer Amy Vendt will step into the role of interim CEO on July 14, replacing Rob Gray.
Gray recently resigned to become CEO of the Heart of the Valley YMCA in Huntsville, Ala.
“I am truly honored and humbled to be selected by the board of directors to serve as CEO,” Vendt said. “The Bath Y has experienced exciting, transformational growth in recent years, and I’m committed to building on that momentum.”
Vendt has 30-plus years of experience within the YMCA organization and has served as the COO at the Bath Area YMCA for two years. Her tenure includes notable achievements in philanthropy, leading transformative projects, and enhancing organizational culture through leadership in diversity and inclusion.
Prior to coming to Maine, Vendt served as the executive director of the YMCA in Central Maryland, managing a branch serving over 9,000 members.
Peter Owen, president of the Bath Area YMCA board of directors, said, “We are excited to welcome Amy into this role leading our association. She brings a remarkable combination of vision, dedication, and heart to this new role, and we are confident the Y is in great hands.”
The organization will begin a search this summer for a new chief operating officer.
