BerryDunn announced that the firm's quality assurance principal has been named to the Maine Board of Accountancy.
Todd Desjardins' appointment continues the tradition of BerryDunn leaders serving on the Board of Accountancy. Dejardins replaces Tracy Harding, who served on the board before his retirement in 2022.
"Tracy Harding, my predecessor in the quality assurance principal role at BerryDunn and former chair of the Maine Board of Accountancy, reached out to me several years ago regarding my interest in serving on the board," said Desjardins. "I told Tracy I would be delighted to have the opportunity to serve on the Board and I provided the governor’s office with my professional experience and credentials."
He said he was notified in late November that he was appointed to the Maine Board of Accountancy, effective Dec. 1, 2022.
The board is the state's governing body for accountants and was established to protect the public by regulating the practice of public accountancy in Maine.
"I'm thrilled that Todd is continuing the tradition of BerryDunn's leaders sharing their expertise and thought leadership to serve our Maine communities," said Renee Bishop, the firm's COO of assurance, tax and advisory services. "It's a testament to the caliber of our staff and their dedication to public service that they are consistently chosen as leaders to represent their fields."
Desjardins has been employed by BerryDunn since 2009 and is also a principal in the firm's financial service practice group. His expertise in the financial statement audit process supports clients in navigating complex issues. As a certified fraud examiner, he is also involved in BerryDunn's forensic accounting and fraud engagements. In addition, Desjardins helps clients implement internal controls that can mitigate the risk of error or fraud. He has advised financial institutions on loan modifications and the impact COVID-19 has on the calculation of the allowance for loan losses.
BerryDunn is a full-service assurance, tax, and consulting firm that serves clients from nine offices and 800 employees across the U.S. and U.S. territories. BerryDunn was ranked No. 2 among Maine's largest accounting firms in the 2023 Mainebiz Book of Lists, ranked by revenue in 2021.
