Blueberry crop increases in 2007

Maine's 2007 wild blueberry crop totaled 76.9 million pounds, a three-percent increase over 2006 and a 28% increase over 2005, the federal Department of Agriculture said Friday.

The crop's total value is estimated at $72.1 million, the USDA said. The department attributed the above-average crop partly to "excellent pollinating conditions" last June.
