Utah-based LivAway Suites has opened a 110-room extended stay hotel on Mussey Road in Scarborough, the company's first in New England.
The 53,615-square-foot property joins 11 other hotels in Scarborough. In a press release, the company cited neighboring Portland as one of the top extended-stay demand locations in the country.
The Salt Lake City company is new to the hospitality market in the U.S., having only recently opened its first properties in Utah, Washington state and now Scarborough.
A sign in the lobby in Scarborough says LivAway will open a total of 48 hotels in 2026, from Alaska to New York, with the heaviest concentrations in Florida, Texas and Washington state.
LivAway hotels include fitness centers, laundry facilities and co-working hubs.
The Mussey Road project first went before the Scarborough Planning Board in January 2023, envisioning a 126-room property. LivAway modified plans over the course of more than a year and five planning board sessions before receiving approval for 110 rooms in May 2024.
LivAway CEO Mike Nielson said in a press release on the Scarborough opening, "We're eager to meet the needs of the growing influx of workers and families coming to the Portland metropolitan area, with our unique brand promise of offering guests everything they need and nothing they don't."
