Feds give $800K to Maine Sea Grant program

A federal agency is giving $798,312 to the Maine Sea Grant program for continued support of its research, education and outreach efforts for Maine’s coastal economy.

U.S. Sens. Susan Collins and Angus King announced Monday that the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s grant is part of the regular funding for the program, which is operated out of the University of Maine.

“Maine’s coastal communities are a vital part of our economy,” Collins and King said in a joint statement. “We are pleased NOAA has invested these funds in Maine Sea Grant, which will enable to them continue their important work as a resource and advocate for communities up and down the Maine coast.”
