Geiger continues global growth with new sales office in Germany

Courtesy / Geiger Geiger added a sales office in Dusseldorf, Germany, and hired Renate Schmid as account director for German business.

Geiger, a family-owned promotional products company based in Lewiston, has opened a sales office in Dusseldorf, Germany, to work in coordination with the company's German distribution facility in nearby Nettetal.

The office is part of Geiger’s strategic plan to expand worldwide to serve customers’ international shipping and distribution needs, the company said in a news release Thursday.

“Clients require global capabilities coupled with local support and this new office is part of our continued global growth strategy,” said Jo-an Lantz, Geiger CEO and president.

In addition to the new sales office, Renate Schmid will be joining Geiger as account director for Germany to manage Geiger’s clients in the region. She has more than 14 years experience working in the merchandise and print management industry, Geiger said.

Schmid will be the only person in the Dusseldorf office for now, but the company said it plans to make additional hires in 2022.

“Germany is an important market for our clients,” said Chris McKee, Geiger senior vice president and chief revenue officer. “Adding this sales office in Dusseldorf to our local distribution center and online platform will streamline their efforts throughout Europe.”

Geiger, which markets custom products such as pens, drinkware, totes and car accessories, operates from offices across the U.S. and Europe and is affiliated with over 450 independent sales representatives. The company says it is the world's largest family-run distributor in the promotional products sector.

The company has been expanding quickly, making acquisitions to extend its geographic reach and services.  In August, the company acquired Englewood, Colo.-based distributor ProCorp Inc., and in March it acquired Five Thousand Forms, a Fogelsville, Pa.-based distributor doing business as GiveMeFiveCom.

Geiger’s roots go back to 1878, when Andre and Jacob Geiger took over their father’s print shop in Newark, N.J., to start the company. It moved to Lewiston in 1955.
