The former Circuit City building on Maine Mall Road in South Portland will soon become a Goodwill retail location.
Goodwill Industries of Northern New England, based in Portland, today is finalizing a lease for the 27,620-square-foot space at 555 Maine Mall Road, Craig Young, a partner and broker at CB Richard Ellis/The Boulos Co., told Mainebiz. Young did not specify the terms of the lease agreement, but said it was a long-term deal with a rate that "made it possible for an off-price retailer to be able to locate near the mall." It will become one of Goodwill's largest stores and will open next spring following renovations, Young said.
The building has been empty since this spring, when the bankrupt electronics chain closed all of its 567 stores in the United States, including stores in Bangor and Augusta.
