New hires

Hussey Seating in North Berwick hired Bill Capon as director of manufacturing. Capon most recently served as director of corporate Honeywell operating systems at Honeywell International in Morris Plains, N.J.

The John T. Gorman Foundation in Portland hired Kaylene Mitchell as senior program associate. Previously, Mitchell served as the dean of enrollment and student success at Southern Maine Community College as well as the college's dean of advancement and business and community partnerships.

Murray Plumb & Murray, a law firm in Portland, hired Andrew Helman as partner in its bankruptcy practice group. Helman is a business, work-out and restructuring attorney who works with all types of businesses, including those in the health care sector, to help them protect their assets.

Thomaston Place Auction Galleries hired Paula Houst as CFO and David Robichaud as COO. Houst was previously senior vice president and general manager of Tourco while Robichaud was an interior designer and restaurateur.

MaineHealth's Center for Health Improvement hired Erica Thompson as an administrative specialist II.

Fontaine Family – The Real Estate Leader in Auburn hired Doreen Jackson. Jackson holds an associate broker license and is a member of the Maine Board of Realtors and the National Board of Realtors.

Mercy Hospital in Portland hired Nina Edwards as a general surgeon at Portland Surgical Associates. Edwards has practiced in Maine for the past 12 years, including at Central Maine Medical Center and York Hospital.

Bar Harbor Savings and Loan hired Zoran Manev as internal IT specialist. Manev was a branch manager at TTK Bank in Macedonia.

Sebago Technics, an employee-owned engineering consulting firm in South Portland, hired Bradley Van Damm as senior CAD designer, Stefanie Nichols as permitting specialist/project coordinator, Bridget Cullen as civil engineer, Thomas Low as CAD/survey technician and Daniel O'Connell as survey technician.

The Maine Water Co. in Saco hired Mary Jane Dillingham as director of water quality and Austin Scaplan as an engineer. Dillingham, who will also serve as lab director and quality assurance officer for the company's state-certified laboratories, has 30 years of experience in the water utility industry while Scaplan recently completed a master's degree in sustainable engineering at Villanova University, to complement his bachelors of science in civil engineering.

Diversified Communications, an international media company in Portland, hired Christina Henderson as an event manager, Ned Daly as program director and Narmada Sakthivel as software quality-assurance analyst. Henderson was previously employed by Formula 4 Media, Daly was with the Ocean Foundation and Sakthivel was with Tata Consultancy Services LTD.

Thos. Moser, maker of handcrafted American furniture in Auburn, hired Darrell Pardy as vice president and COO. Pardy was previously co-founder at Bristol Seafood. The company also hired Adam Policky as director of sales and marketing and Ted Regan as director of business development and client relationships.

Cast Aside Productions, an entertainment company in South Portland, hired Ashley McCurry as development consultant. McCurry was formerly finance director for the Maine Democratic Party.

Starboard Leadership Consulting, an affiliate of the law firm of Rudman Winchell in Bangor, hired Mary Aselton Budd. Budd, formerly of Penobscot Theatre Co., will assist managing the seven-member firm and in leading the organizational development work in Maine.

Fluid Imaging Technologies Inc., a laboratory instrumentation manufacturer in Scarborough, hired Mary Hayes as shipper/receiver and Gail Durgin as software quality assurance analyst. Hayes was previously employed at GVS Filter Technology in the order fulfillment and shipment department while Durgin was a system analyst advisor at Anthem.

The American Red Cross in Portland hired Jim Bouchard as executive director of its Central and Mid Coast Maine Chapter. Bouchard previously worked at Maine Preservation in Yarmouth.

Mercy Hospital in Portland hired Anne Marie Van Hengel as medical director of The Birthplace and chief of obstetrics and gynecology. Van Hengel, who will continue to practice medicine at InterMed, will provide administrative leadership to Mercy's maternal and women's health practices.

Drummond Woodsum, a law firm in Portland, hired Laura O'Neill as an associate attorney in its school and local government practice group. O'Neill previously served as a staff attorney to the Oakland [Calif.] Unified School District and as a school law consultant to the California School Boards Association.

Broadreach Public Relations, a public relations firm in Portland, hired Marnie MacLean as a senior storyteller/multi-media strategist. MacLean was previously an independent PR strategist and has experience promoting Maine's growing relationship with the Arctic and North Atlantic through the Maine North Atlantic Development Office and Maine International Trade Center.

Maine Behavioral Healthcare in South Portland hired Linda Durst as senior vice president, medical and clinical affairs and chief of psychiatry for Maine Medical Center. Durst was formerly at Hartford Hospital where she served as medical director and associate chief, department of psychiatry at the Institute of Living.

Skowhegan Savings hired Kristen Dubord as a community banker in Franklin County.

Promotions

Machias Savings Bank promoted Eryn Meeker to branch manager, Princeton; Stephanie Page to assistant vice president, physical security; Matthew Smith to assistant vice president, information systems; Ken Stewart to assistant vice president, business banking; Heather Vose to assistant vice president, employee development; Jonathan Alley to vice president, branch manager, Machias; Charlene Cates to vice president, community impact; Sean Daye to vice president, business banking/Community Reinvestment Act officer; and Miranda Smith to vice president, retail loan administration.

Down East, a publisher in Camden, promoted Sarah Stebbins to editor of Maine Homes by Down East, a new quarterly publication. Stebbins joined the company in 2016 to help rebrand and edit the website, MaineHomes.com.

Goodwill Northern New England promoted Braden Sharpe to vice president of loss prevention and safety. Sharpe was previously senior director of loss prevention and safety.

Dream Local Digital, an online marketing agency in Rockland, promoted Alyssa Rolerson to COO. Rolerson, who started with the firm as an intern and became its first employee, has held many roles with the company, including writing content for clients, creating and editing marketing strategies and building its project management infrastructure.

Drummond Woodsum, a law firm in Portland, promoted Peter Felmly to lead the firm's school and local government practice group. Felmly will continue to provide counsel to private sector employers and public schools in all aspects of labor, employment and school law.

Sebago Technics, an employee-owned engineering and surveying consulting firm in South Portland, promoted Brandon Blake to senior civil engineer and Amber Ferland has been promoted to project engineer.

Appointments

Community Dental in Falmouth added Preston Kinney and Michael Dakin to its board of directors. Kinney is a CPA with Berry, Dunn, McNeil & Parker LLC in Portland while Dakin is a partner at Clifford Chance LLP in London.

Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington named Shannon Smith, president; Kamilla Hall, first vice president; Vicki Robbins, second vice president; Les Gatchell, secretary; Priscilla Smith, treasurer; and Smith, assistant treasurer, of its auxiliary.

Achievements

The Maine Department of Corrections Long Creek Youth Development Center completed its American Correctional Association reaccreditation audit and achieved a score of 100% compliance with all juvenile facility standards.

Erin Guay, executive director of Healthy Androscoggin, a grant-funded community health organization under the Central Maine Healthcare system umbrella, was recognized by the Maine Public Health Association as the state's “Public Health Rising Star.”

Central Maine Community College in Auburn placed third nationally and was recognized as “Innovative, Collaborative Digital Community College” in the Center for Digital Education's 2017-18 digital community colleges survey. The survey analyzes how community colleges use a range of technologies to enhance services to students, faculty, staff and the community at large.

Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor was recognized for the seventh consecutive year by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association with a “Stroke Gold Plus/Stroke Honor Roll Elite Plus Quality Achievement Award” while Maine Medical Center in Portland received a “AFIB Gold Quality Achievement Award.”

Katahdin Trust in Houlton recognized several employees who reached a milestone anniversary with the bank. Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington presented Gerald Tinguely and Tim Davis with its first ever “Primary Care Service Awards.” Tinguely started on the hospital's medical staff in 1984 and will retire this month while Davis joined the medical staff in 1985 and retired on May 30.

The Edison Electric Institute presented Central Maine Power Co. with its “Emergency Recovery Award” for its power restoration efforts after a severe storm hit Maine in October 2017. The award is given to member companies to recognize extraordinary efforts to restore power to customers after service disruptions caused by severe weather conditions or other natural events.

United Way of York County, in partnership with Kennebunk Savings, announced that Project Playback was awarded the “2018 Youth Spirit of Service Award” for its commitment to service and impact in the Kennebunk senior-living community. Project Playback is comprised of Kennebunk High School and Middle School students who are providing music therapy to seniors with dementia and Alzheimer's.
