Les Otten, an entrepreneur and the former CEO of American Skiing Co., is considering a run for governor, according to the Associated Press.
Otten is planning to hold a breakfast meeting with supporters next Monday at the Marriott Sable Oaks in South Portland, which will be followed by a news conference to announce the creation of an exploratory committee. Otten did not say whether he would run as a Republican, Democrat or independent, saying he will announce that at the new conference. Otten is currently president of Maine Energy Systems, a Bethel company that installs wood-pellet heating systems, and is also the chairman of the Governor's Wood to Energy Task Force. Otten is also a former minority owner of the Boston Red Sox.
Read the Mainebiz profile of Otten in "Into the Fire," from June 2008.
This guy is a total phoney- a cheater and a man who lacks integrity. Not someone we would want as the governor of our state. Ask about the skeletons in his closet. See what he has to say.
Clearly you liberal dems are scared to death of a man like Les Otten. You folks who are slaves to the government can't stand the idea of smaller government, rugged individualism and personal responsibility. You bought and paid for welfare cases would'nt know what do with yourselves if economic prosperity was brought back into the state of Maine. Perhaps getting up off your lazy asses and working for a living is far to scary for you. Wake up you moonbat red diaper dopers.
Les is exactly what we need. He is a self made success and has shown he has vision for the future time and time again. Maine needs to enter the 21st century, and a guy who had the foresight into the ski industry and the Red Sox is not a bad guy to help us look forward. And he is a family man, who has always taken time out to support his sons and daughter in all that they do.
