L.L.Bean to open third out-of-state store this year

L.L. Bean is planning to open a new store in Denver, Colo. in November, making it the Freeport-based retailer’s third out-of-state retail expansion this year.

The Bangor Daily News reported that L.L. Bean will open a 13,000-square foot location in Denver’s Park Meadows Retail Resort that will employ about 80 workers.

Mac McKeever, an L.L.Bean spokesman, told the newspaper that the expansion is part of the company’s “omnichannel” retail strategy, providing customers more options between brick-and-mortar stores and the company’s online shopping website.

Earlier this year, L.L.Bean announced the opening of new retail stores in Burlington, Vt., and at Minnesota’s Mall of America. The company also announced that its Bangor call center will close in 2016, citing a decline in phone orders.
