Maine airports get $450K in federal grants

Airports in northern and western Maine are receiving a total of $450,000 in federal grants, U.S. Sens. Angus King and Susan Collins announced on Tuesday.

The Houlton International Airport will receive $300,000 for construction of snow removal equipment building that will protect equipment from adverse weather.

The Sugarloaf Regional Airport in Carrabassett Valley will receive $150,000 to conduct an environmental assessment associated with a proposal to improve the terminal area.

The funds are coming from the Federal Aviation Administration.
