Nearly 1,000 members of the state's real estate and development community are expected to gather Thursday for the annual Maine Real Estate & Development Association Forecast Conference and Member Showcase.

Industry experts at the conference take regional looks at real estate sectors including residential, office and industrial, as well as the hospitality industry, legislation, banking, construction and more. Organizers said the forecast is a gauge of Maine’s overall economic health — a look at how commercial and residential development will continue to shape and paint Maine’s landscape.

Maine’s Commissioner of Economic and Community Development, Heather Johnson, will deliver the keynote address for the 2020 conference.

Other speakers are:

  • Economic overview, Fotios Raptis Sr., international economist, TD Bank Group;
  • Southern Maine industrial forecast, Justin Lamontagne, NAI The Dunham Group;
  • York County market forecast, Will Armitage, Southern Maine Finance Agency;
  • Overview of MEREDA’s legislative agenda: Andrea Cianchette Maker and Elizabeth Frazier, Pierce Atwood;
  • Southern Maine residential forecast — multi-family, Brit Vitalius, Vitalius Real Estate Group;
  • Southern Maine residential forecast — single family, Dava Davin, Portside Real Estate Group;
  • Central and coastal Maine market forecast, Mac Simpson and Tim Millett, Porta & Co.;
  • Bangor-area market forecast, Tanya Emery, city of Bangor;
  • Vacation and hospitality forecast, Sean Riley, Maine Course Hospitality Group;
  • Southern Maine retail forecast, Karen Rich, Malone Commercial Brokers;
  • Southern Maine office forecast, Nate Stevens, The Boulos Co.

The event takes place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Holiday Inn by the Bay, 88 Spring St., Portland.

"With regional overviews covering the Maine markets from Bangor to Kennebunk, and analyses of recent legislative agendas, MEREDA’s Forecast Conference has become an indispensable tool for real estate and development industry professionals and economists," said a news release. The event is also a tool for state residents who are seeking the most up-to-date information on the fiscal well-being of Maine, organizers said.

In addition to the forecast conference, the member showcase allows attendees to connect on a more interactive level.
