Manufacturing job training program graduates first class

The Maine Manufacturing Extension Partnership is graduating the first class in its new Mobile Outreach Skills Training program. Nine unemployed workers have completed the program and will receive employment offers from Lewiston-based manufacturer WahlcoMetroflex.

MOST is a rapid-response skills training and job placement program tailored to specific employment opportunities in manufacturing, according to a release from Maine MEP. Two-week training is provided in high-tech mobile classrooms in exchange for a commitment from an employer to continue training them on the job. Members of the inaugural class were trained in welding.

The program was funded in part by the Maine Department of Labor, the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development and the Unity Foundation.
