To commemorate its 50th anniversary, the Boulos Co. launched Boulos 50 for 50, a company-wide effort to complete 50 meaningful acts of service this year.
The Boulos Co. aims to strengthen community ties and encourage the team to give back in a way that’s personally meaningful, such as through volunteering, supporting a cause or organizing a community event.
Acts to date include participating in the effort to build a community pool, Supporting JA Maine’s Titan Challenge and volunteering for the United Way 10-Miler.
Founded by Joseph Boulos in 1975 on Portland’s Upper Exchange Street, the company has grown to more than 80 employees in Maine and New Hampshire.
“Since the early ‘80s, we’ve seen the city of Portland morph into a vibrant, safe and desirable community,” said Boulos. “Portland’s growth allowed for the Boulos Co.’s growth, and Portland’s success has been the Boulos Co.’s success. The two are intertwined.”
The company hosted a gathering May 1 with nearly 600 people at Brick South at Thompsons Point to celebrate its 50th anniversary.
Party planning was by Citrine Events, food was from Lake Region Caterers and music was provided Don Campbell Music. Guests included past and present employees, tenants, clients, partners, local politicians and U.S. Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine.
Gov. Janet Mills issued a proclamation declaring May 1 as Boulos Co. Day, citing the company as a “cornerstone of commercial real estate in Maine [that] facilitated billions in transactions and managed millions of square feet of real estate.”
“We know that if our clients are pleased with the results we provide, it will lead to more business,” said Greg Boulos, the company’s managing partner. “‘Do the right thing and the right thing will happen’ has been one of our guiding principles since the company was founded.”
