New hires

Bates College in Lewiston hired Garry Jenkins as president, effective July 1, 2023. Jenkins is currently dean and William S. Pattee Professor of Law at the University of Minnesota Law School.

The city of Portland hired Umaru Balde as justice, diversity, equity and inclusion director. Balde was most recently director of the multicultural family center for the city of Dubuque.

Allen Insurance and Financial in Camden hired Sam Grinnell as an account manager in the company’s business insurance division.

Colby College in Waterville hired Jeremy Barron as director of its Halloran Lab for Entrepreneurship and Craig Loftus as chief information officer. Barron was entrepreneur-in-residence at Dirigo Labs while Loftus was chief information officer at the University of New England.

Vitalius Real Estate Group in Portland hired Nancy Carleton, Poe Cilley and Tyson Soule as brokers.

Rizzo Mattson Realtors in Augusta hired Matthew Burnham as a sales agent.

Rinck Advertising in Lewiston hired Janelle LoSciuto as a public relations manager. LoSciuto most recently was founder and owner of VIBRANT Communication Strategies in Westbrook.

Secretary of State Shenna Bellows announced Lelia De Andrade has been hired as deputy secretary of state for equity and inclusion. De Andrade was vice president of community impact at Maine Community Foundation.

Drummond Woodsum, a law firm in Portland, hired Doug Ginn as a shareholder and member of the firm’s business services group. Ginn was previously with Burns & Levinson, a Boston-based law firm.

Legacy Properties Sotheby’s International Realty, a luxury real estate company in Portland, hired Laurie Halls as a real estate professional in Brunswick.

Preti Flaherty, a law firm in Portland, hired Erin Jackson as an attorney in the firm’s real estate and finance and corporate and M&A practice groups.

Constant, a Falmouth-based loan management software solutions provider, hired Nick Pham as head of program management. Pham was most recently director of IT program management at ACA Group.

Promotions

Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution promoted John Mondor to senior vice president, director of marketing and customer experience; Kenda Bouffard to vice president, retail lending processing and closing manager; Lisa Bowdler to vice president, business loans and project administrator; Mike Gauthier to vice president, information technology manager; Andy Kany to assistant vice president, loan officer; Julie LoPresti to vice president, payment operations manager; Jena Walton to vice president, retail loan servicing supervisor/collection officer; Cara Gobeil to assistant vice president, auditor; Mikhaela Helm to assistant vice president, customer care assistant manager; Andrew Mockler to assistant vice president, marketing and communications manager; Kelci Parker to assistant branch manager, Scarborough; Jenn Corthell to officer, senior retail loan servicer/escrow clerk; and Jayke Scott to customer relationship officer.

iBec Creative, a digital marketing agency in Portland, promoted Kes Lavoie to digital marketing manager and Chelsea Pullan to director of operations.

Wyman’s, growers, processors and marketers of wild blueberries in Milbridge, promoted April Norton to vice president of human resources.

UScellular promoted Gary Hebert to store manager in Farmington. Hebert was previously store manager in Manchester, N.H.

Drummond Woodsum, a law firm in Portland, promoted Chris Stevenson to co-leader of the firm’s business services practice group. As a tax attorney and CPA, Stevenson focuses his practice on a wide range of federal and state tax compliance issues and tax controversies before taxing authorities. In his transactional tax practice.

Bath Savings Institution promoted Deborah Anderson to branch manager in Damariscotta. Anderson was previously assistant branch manager.

Kennebec Savings Bank promoted Amanda Cooley to vice president and marketing and communications officer. Cooley most recently served as assistant vice president and community engagement officer.

Appointments

Fausto Pifferrer, owner of Blue Elephant Events and Catering in Saco, was appointed to the board of directors of the International Caterers Association and the Biddeford Saco Chamber of Commerce.

Maine Cancer Foundation in Falmouth added Kate Knox, Tina Pettingill, Bethany Sanborn and Mary Warren Libby to its board of directors. Knox is an election law attorney at Bernstein Shur, Pettingill is deputy director of the health and human services department for the city of Portland, Sanborn is senior director at MaineHealth and Warren Libby is director of recruiting at Prosearch. In addition, Laura Pfeiffenberger was elected to serve as board president.

Achievements

Rinck Advertising in Lewiston said it was named a winner in Ragan’s “Top Places to Work.” The firm was one of 14 companies in the U.S. recognized in the small organization (less than 100 employees) category.

Malone Commercial Brokers in Portland announced that it won a “Best of the 207 Award” in the category of commercial real estate from Portland Radio Group.

Allen Insurance and Financial in Camden announced that Jaime Hannan achieved the designation of Accredited Customer Service Representative in Personal Lines from The Institutes, an insurance education organization. Hannan is a personal insurance account assistant in the agency’s Rockland office.

The Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change formally accepted Colby College in Waterville as an observer organization. By achieving the status of observer organization, the college will have more opportunities to participate in and influence the global climate conversation.

SCORE Central Maine was named “Northeast Region 2022 Chapter of the Year.”

Camden National Bank was awarded the “Above and Beyond Award” by the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, an office within the Department of Defense. In addition, “Patriot Award” winners included David Ackley, senior vice president, director of information security and enterprise risk management; Joanne Campbell, executive vice president, enterprise risk management and chief risk officer; Keith Gosselin, vice president, information security manager; and Heather Robinson, executive vice president, chief human resources officer.
