New hires

PeoplesChoice Credit Union in Saco recently hired Heather Sheerin as residential mortgage processor. Previously, Sheerin was mortgage underwriter/office manager for Maine Home Mortgage Corp.

Harriman, an architecture and engineering firm in Auburn, recently hired Carol Gillis as principal in its health care design practice.

RE/MAX By The Bay in Portland recently hired Kelli Record O'Brien as director of operations.

Berry Talbot Royer, a CPA firm in Falmouth, recently hired Marc Roy as audit manager. Roy was previously a senior auditor at Austin Associates CPAs in Auburn.

Maine Audubon in Falmouth recently hired Agata Ketterick as membership manager and Nicole Mailhot as web and marketing coordinator. Ketterick was previously with Tread Lightly in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Mailhot was with Rainbow Federal Credit Union in Auburn.

The Environmental Health Strategy Center, a Portland nonprofit promoting human health and safer chemicals in a sustainable economy, recently hired Lily Swartz as communications manager. Swartz was previously communications coordinator at Prevention Institute in Oakland, Calif.

Occupational Medical Consulting LLC in Leeds recently hired Dwight Payne as software director.

Penobscot Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce in Rockland recently hired Judith DeMott as Rockland Visitor Center assistant, Jessica Fossett as Camden Visitor Center assistant and Carisa Carney as operations administrator. DeMott was previously director of development and publicity for both the Penobscot Marine Museum and Owls Head Transportation Museum, Fossett was with The Berry Manor Inn and Carney was the director of the Damariscotta Region Chamber of Commerce.

Katahdin Trust Co. recently hired Vicki Bessette as vice president, commercial services officer in Scarborough. Bessette was previously assistant vice president and business banking officer at Bangor Savings Bank.

Pine Tree Society, a nonprofit in Bath that provides direct service programs to people with disabilities, recently hired RJ Gagnon as finance director, Julie Brennan as director of case management services and Morgan Sheafer as administrative assistant.

The Michelle Raber State Farm Insurance Agency in Scarborough recently hired Jennifer Townsend and Erik Casparius as account representatives. Townsend was previously a corporate account executive at Family 24 Fitness in Scarborough and Casparius was a regional sales manager for the East Baking Co.

Kennebec Behavioral Health in Waterville recently hired Tina Chapman as director of development and communications. Chapman was previously president/CPO of the United Way of Mid-Maine.

Day One, a nonprofit agency in South Portland that works to prevent and treat adolescent substance abuse, recently hired Joanne Grant as director of residential services at Hinckley and Lauren Berry as a per diem awake overnight associate in the residential program at Buxton.

Diversified Communications, an international media company in Portland, recently hired Jenna Herbert as a project manager. Herbert was previously employed with Accruent in Austin, Texas.

Allen Insurance and Financial in Camden recently hired Sally Weymouth-Carlisle as an outside sales producer.

The Maine Red Claws, a professional basketball team in Portland, recently hired Gerald McLemore as an account executive in the sales department. McLemore was previously a tournament site director for XL Sports World in Saco.

Apothecary by Design, a pharmacy in Portland, recently hired Kayla Stewart, Sarah DeRaps and Justin Levesque as pharmacists.

Promotions

In Brewer, Dennis Kingman for environmental, asbestos and hazardous materials services; Sean Thies for civil/site design and permitting services; and Peter Tuell for structural engineering and building envelope services. In Lewiston, John Cressey for brownfields redevelopment and environmental services; and, in Presque Isle, David Hopkins Jr. for environmental engineering services.

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in South Portland recently promoted Andrew Ellis to vice president, provider engagement and contracting. Ellis previously served as contracting team lead.

Maine Audubon in Falmouth recently promoted Brandi Sladek to design and brand coordinator. Sladek was previously an executive assistant.

Saint Joseph's College in Standish recently promoted Patricia Ireland to dean of undergraduate studies. Ireland was previously the program director of the college's online theology program.

cPort Credit Union recently promoted Ember Earl to branch manager at its Scarborough branch. Earl was previously assistant branch manager.

The First N.A. recently promoted Brenda Fernald to assistant branch manager in the bank's Bar Harbor and Northeast Harbor branch offices. Fernald was previously a senior administrative assistant to the COO.

Norway Savings Bank recently promoted Kaleigh Deering to branch manager of the bank's Forest Ave. branch in Portland, which is scheduled to open this summer. Deering is also assistant vice president and branch manager of the bank's 1200 Congress St. location. The bank also announced that Lennie Burke was recently promoted to branch manager in Freeport. Burke is also the branch manager for both the Maine Street and Cook's Corner offices in Brunswick.

Unum, a financial protection benefits company in Portland, recently promoted Joe Cusack to senior market manager and John Perry to sales manager for its Boston-Portland sales office. Cusack was previously sales manager and Perry was a sales representative.

The Maine Manufacturing Extension Partnership in Augusta announced that Center Director Larry Robinson recently received a promotion to full commander in the U.S. Naval Reserves.

Waban, a Sanford nonprofit that assists children and adults with developmental disabilities, recently added Dennis Byrd to its board of directors. Byrd is the executive vice president and COO of Kennebunk Savings.

Achievements

Baker Newman Noyes, a CPA and consulting firm in Portland, recently announced that Brett Seekins, senior manager in the firm's health care management consulting division, was recognized by LeadingAge Maine & New Hampshire with its Advocacy Award. Seekins specializes in long-term care and senior living consulting.

The Maine Department of Environmental Protection recently presented its 2014 Environmental Excellence awards. Texas Instruments in South Portland won in the category of businesses over 100 employees; Allagash Brewery, Portland, in the businesses with 20-99 employees category; the Lewiston-Auburn Pollution Control Authority in the category of local, state or tribal government; and the Maine Water Environment Association in the not-for-profit category.

The Small Business Council of America recently presented U.S. Sen. Susan Collins with its Outstanding Congressional Achievement Award.
