Newsworthy people and performances for Feb. 22, 2021

New hires

Haley Ward Inc., an employee-owned professional engineering, environmental and surveying consulting firm in Bangor, hired Sarah King as a senior project engineer and Sarah Weatherbee as a natural resource scientist in its environmental division, Jill Harper as HR coordinator and Kristie Seekins as administrative assistant and receptionist.

Fontaine Family – The Real Estate Leader hired Andrea McKay as a real estate agent in Auburn and Sidney Jolicoeur as real estate agent in Scarborough.

RE/MAX Shoreline in Portland hired Andrew Rissman as a Realtor. The firm also announced that Tom Ranello, Harper Lee Collins, Derrick Buckspan and the Buckspan Deering Team, Crystal Tropeano, Glenn Thibodeau and Nick Guerrette all reached the platinum award level as a result of their 2020 production.

MaineHealth in Portland hired Andrew Mueller as CEO. Mueller is former president and CEO of Centra Health, a Lynchburg, Va., health care system consisting of four local hospital organizations, is expected to start his new position in late spring.

OTELCO, a wireline telecommunications company in New Gloucester, hired Brian Bouchard as an OSP engineer and Debbie Brill as an OSP licensing manager in New Gloucester and Ethan Richards as a technical support technician in Bangor.

Camden National Wealth Management hired Mark Andrews as senior trust officer and relationship manager. Andrews, who has 30 years of experience in wealth advisory services, was previously vice president and trust team lead at Huntington National Bank in Michigan.

United Way of Kennebec Valley in Augusta hired Kelly Wasson as director of finance and operations. Wasson recently served as the director of operations and finance for United Way of Mid-Maine.

The Maine Arts Commission in Augusta hired David Greenham as interim executive director for a term of at least two years. Greenham was previously associate director of the Holocaust and Human Rights Center of Maine.

Promotions

St.Germain, an environmental consulting, regulatory compliance and engineering company in Westbrook, promoted Donald McFadden to principal. McFadden, who has two decades of senior project management experience, has led the company’s environmental assessment and remediation practice group for five years.

Franklin Savings Bank in Farmington promoted Amy Hebert to vice president, commercial credit risk officer.

Diversified Communications, an international media company in Portland, promoted Lee Corkhill to group event director for the company’s portfolio of technology events. Corkhill most recently served as group marketing director in the technology events portfolio.

Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford, part of MaineHealth, promoted Jennifer Schmitz to chief nursing officer. Schmitz had been serving as interim chief nursing officer since April 2020.

Verrill, a law firm in Portland, promoted Anya Endsley to partner. Endsley, who is a member of the firm’s private clients and fiduciary services group, focuses her practice in all aspects of estate planning, probate administration and trust administration and counsels clients on tax planning, charitable giving and sophisticated wealth preservation and transfer strategies.

Appointments

The Susan L. Curtis Foundation in Portland elected Kylie Mason as board chair and Nolan Reichl as board vice chair and added Rocky Cianchette and Don Foerster as honorary trustees. Mason is with Sebago Technics, Reichl with Pierce Atwood, Cianchette with Main Line Fence Co. and Foerster with L.L.Bean.

Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce in Waterville elected Brandi Meisner as board chairperson. Meisner is a community banker for Skowhegan Savings Bank. The organization also announced Melik Peter Khoury, Ken Walsh, Linanne Gaunce, Larissa Larrabee and Mark Bradford as new board members. Khoury is president and CEO of Unity College, Walsh is CEO for the Boys & Girls Clubs and YMCA at the Alfond Youth & Community Center, Gaunce manages special events and donations for Central Maine Motors Auto Group, Larrabee is mill controller for Huhtamaki and Bradford is area sales manager for Valley Beverage Distributors.

Riding To the Top Therapeutic Riding Center in Windham elected Casey Etter-Bobb as board president; Brandon Cohen, board vice president; Carissa Robb, board treasurer; and Lindsey Lombardo, board secretary. In addition, Tim Graham, Shelby Poduch and Marisa Rossi were added to the board. Graham is managing partner of Modern Woodmen of America; and Poduch is associate content producer and Rossi event planner II at IDEXX Laboratories.

Achievements

University of Maine System announced that Leigh Saufley, dean of the University of Maine School of Law and former Maine chief justice, and Joyce Gibson, associate professor of leadership studies at the University of Southern Maine and former dean of Lewiston-Auburn College, were named to the Maine Women’s Hall of Fame.

The Edison Electric institute selected Central Maine Power in Augusta as a recipient of its “Emergency Response Award” recognizing recovery and assistance efforts of electric companies following service disruptions caused by extreme weather or other natural events.

The U.S. Small Business Administration announced that RockStep Solutions Inc., a Portland-based company focused on data solutions for the medical industry, was selected as a “Tibbetts Award” winner for its accomplishments in creating cutting-edge technologies.

Champion the Cure Challenge announced its 2021 Honorees including: Allen L’Italien, “Honorary Chair;” Marie Stewart-Downing, Mart Lapin and Sienna Probert, “Terry Fox Award” winners; Maine Savings Federal Credit Union, “Corporate Champion;” Healy Chiropractic, “Community Champion;” and Jill Smith, “Volunteer of the Year.”

Legacy Properties Sotheby’s International Realty, a luxury property company in Portland, said that it retained the No. 1 ranking for 2020 waterfront home sales in Maine based on 338 transaction sides, totaling $350 million in property value according to Maine Listings statistics. The agency also ranked first for property sales over $450,000 in Maine, with 596 transaction sides for total sales of $631 million.
