New hires

Jeremy Qualls

Thomas College in Waterville hired Jeremy Qualls as provost. Qualls, who will start in July, is currently dean and vice president of research and innovation at the University of Southern Maine.

The State YMCA Camp of Maine in Winthrop hired Caitlin Martin as assistant director and Janet Sydnor as development and communications director. Martin was previously assistant director, camp and operations at Paradise Point Camp in McCall, Idaho, while Sydnor was development director at Maine Development Foundation.

Atlantic Hospitality, a hotel investment, management and design company in Kennebunk, hired Joe Schafer as culinary director.

The Central Maine Growth Council in Waterville hired Kaitlyn Philbrick as innovation and development coordinator. Philbrick was previously finance manager for the town of Winslow.

CORE, a commercial real estate broker in Portland, hired Jake Krainson as Southern Maine property manager.

Legacy Properties Sotheby’s International Realty, a luxury real estate firm in Portland, hired Kitty Costello as a real estate professional in Camden.

SMRT Architects & Engineers in Portland hired Nick Hadiaris as government and civic market sector leader.

Preti Flaherty, a law firm in Portland, hired Chris McBrady as an attorney in the firm’s corporate and mergers-and-acquisitions practice group and Kelsey Kenny as an attorney in the firm’s litigation practice group.

Greater Portland Landmarks hired Aimée Keithan as educational programs manager.

LeMessurier, a structural engineering firm in Boston, hired Keith Brenner as an associate and Matthew McGinnis as a building information technology coordinator in its South Portland office.

Marin Skincare hired Liz Soule-Tremblay as senior marketing manager and Sam Griswold as senior manager of operations.

Allen Insurance and Financial in Camden hired Jessica Bryant as a commercial lines account manager. Bryant was previously with UScellular.

Aroostook Partnership hired Kiersten Purington as president and CEO. Previously, Purington was founder and principal of Blue Dragonfly Solutions LLC, a firm that offers project and program management solutions for global life sciences clients.

Promotions

The city of South Portland promoted Lea Duffy to economic development director. Duffy was previously economic development specialist.

Achievements

The University of Southern Maine in Portland said it was designated as a “2025-26 Military Friendly School” at gold-level status.

Haley Ward Inc., an employee-owned professional engineering, architecture, environmental, planning and surveying consulting firm in Bangor, announced that it was listed No. 433 on Engineering News-Record’s “Top 500 Design Firms” list.

Maine Trailer in Hampden announced that it was a finalist for “Dealer of the Year” in the inaugural North American Trailer Dealers Association Industry Excellence Awards for 2024.

The Associated General Contractors of Maine recognized exemplary construction companies and their employees with the 2025 Build Maine Awards. In the building division, Turner Construction Co. was recognized for the Malone Family Tower at Maine Medical Center in Portland; in the building renovation division, Consigli Construction Co. earned top honors for the Thompson Block Project; N.S. Giles was called out in the specialty-subcontractor division for the Back Cove South Storage Facility; Reed & Reed Inc. was tops in the bridge division for the Madawaska International Bridge; and Wright-Ryan Construction was named the “Overall Project of the Year” award winner for the Tekαkαpimək Contact Station at Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument.

Waynflete School in Portland named Margo Walsh as the recipient of its “2025 Klingenstein Alumni Award.” Walsh is founder of MaineWorks, a staffing agency in Portland.

The University of New England in Biddeford said it was recognized among New England’s top institutions for student earning potential in the lower access, higher earnings category by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and the American Council on Education in its “2025 Student Access and Earnings Classification.”

Verrill, a law firm in Portland was featured on U.S. News’ “2025 Best Companies to Work For: Law Firms” list.

Anchour, a creative agency in Lewiston, partnered with Lighthouse Credit Union in Dover, N.H., to win a “People’s Voice Webby Award” in the Websites and Mobile Sites: Financial Services & Banking category.

Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor said it received a fifth consecutive “A grade” from the Leapfrog Group’s Hospital Safety Score.

Northern Light Health in Bangor announced that Rebekah Gass, lead physician at Northern Light Infectious Disease, and Amy West, clinical director at Homeless Health Services, Penobscot Community Health Care, were named “2025 Phebe Conrey King Access to Healthcare Award” recipients by the Maine Public Health Association.

The Cedars, an older adult community in Portland, said that Richard Borts, chair of its board of trustees, was honored with the “Trustee of the Year Award” from the Association of Jewish Aging Services.
