New hires

OTLECO, a wireline telecommunications company in New Gloucester, hired Joseph Arsenault as a technical support technician in Bangor and Molly Perkins as a strategic account manager in New Gloucester.

Maine Medical Partners in Portland hired Nadav Lelkes at the Maine Children’s Cancer Program in Scarborough; Stephen Ryan and Sanchita Bose at Maine Medical Partners – Urology; Edward Pilkington III and Sophie Woolston at Maine Medical Partners – Adult Infectious Diseases; Kristina Conner at Maine Medical Center’s Palliative Medicine Program; Thomas Bander at Maine Medical Partners – Dermatology; Anne Dean at Maine Medical Partners – Hospital Medicine; and Jessica Bian, Vatche Tchekmedyian, Jason Moran, Michael Voisine and Johnson Liu at MaineHealth Cancer Care.

Bar Harbor Bank & Trust hired Rebecca Gagné as assistant vice president, treasury support manager. Gagné was previously assistant vice president, treasury analyst officer at People’s United Bank.

Maine Behavioral Healthcare in Portland hired William Chrisemer as CFO. Chrisemer was previously senior vice president and CFO at Greater Lawrence Family Health Center in Lawrence, Mass.

Maine Source Homes & Realty in Auburn hired Zach Caldwell as a sales agent and Realtor. Caldwell was previously a U.S. Army sergeant.

Cribstone Capital Management, a registered investment advisory firm in Brunswick, hired Jeffrey Burch as director, wealth management. Burch joined the firm after a 20-year career in finance in London and Hong Kong.

Lewiston Auburn Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce hired Shanna Cox as president and CEO. Cox is the founder and principal consultant of Project Tipping Point, a Lewiston-based firm that provides strategic planning, board development, training and other services for community and economic leaders.

Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce in Waterville hired Cindy Stevens as program director. Stevens was most recently regional advertising director for the Morning Sentinel and Kennebec Journal.

CES Inc., a firm of engineers, environmental scientists and land surveyors in Brewer, hired Victor Smith and Matt Macey as project engineers, Jared Merry as senior project engineer within the building services unit, Lucy Feeney as a civil engineer, Jeremy Beaulieu as a mechanical engineer, Russell Baillargeon as senior designer in the engineering division, Nathan Norris as an environmental technician and Keith Davis as an environmental field technician in Lewiston.

New Dimensions Federal Credit Union in Waterville hired Carrielyn Reynolds as financial education coordinator.

Maine Small Business Development Centers, a program that provides business advising and training to Maine’s entrepreneurs and small businesses, hired Anne Lancaster as a business advisor in its Biddeford office located at the Southern Maine Finance Agency. Lancaster previously ran a strategic management consulting business for 10 years.

Whole Oceans, a land-based producer of sustainable farm-raised Atlantic salmon based in Bucksport, hired Orfa Cabrera as hatchery manager. Cabrera has three decades of experience in the salmon industry, including 20 years of progressive responsibility at hatcheries in her native Chile.

Opus Consulting Group in Portland hired Alice Evans as a consultant specializing in strategy, operations and finance.

Acadia Center in Rockport hired Jeff Marks as senior policy advocate and Maine director. Marks was previously executive director of E2Tech, a business trade association of Maine’s energy and environmental companies.

Verrill, a law firm in Portland, hired Danielle Starr as an attorney in the firm’s real estate group and private clients group.

Maine State Music Theatre in Brunswick hired Amanda Choate as development director. Choate most recently worked in the development office at Bowdoin College.

Promotions

Colby College in Waterville named Mike Wisecup vice president and Harold Alfond director of athletics. Currently serving as the school’s vice president for strategic initiatives, Wisecup also served as the inaugural presidential leadership fellow in the Office of the President.

Cribstone Capital Management in Augusta promoted Amyn Moolji to chief investment officer and COO. Moolji was previously advisor, member of investment committee.

Acadia Insurance, a regional property casualty underwriter based in Westbrook, promoted Douglas Nelson to chairman after serving as the company’s president and David LeBlanc to president after serving as COO and chief underwriting officer.

Appointments

MDI Biological Laboratory in Bar Harbor added Christopher Sighinolfi to its board of trustees. Sighinolfi is a managing director in US Equity Research at Jefferies and one of Wall Street’s top-rated energy analysts.

Gov. Janet Mills appointed Stephen Smith to serve on the board of directors for Maine Emergency Medical Services, a division of the Maine Department of Public Safety. Smith, who is supervisor and performance improvement coordinator at NorthStar, will be the Tri-County Regional representative on the board.

Thomas College in Waterville added Joseph Moore and Michael D’Appolonia to its board of trustees. Moore served as president of Lesley University in Cambridge, Mass. from 2007 until his retirement in 2016 while D’Appolonia is a retired CEO with 40 years of operational, financial and executive management experience.

The Center for Grieving Children in Portland announced its board officers for 2019-20 including Julie Grosvenor, a physician and associate chief medical officer of Southern Maine Health Care, president; Peter Herzog, shareholder at Bernstein Shur, past president; Mary Larkin, president of Diversified Communications, USA, vice president; Kevin Chase, audit manager at Baker Newman Noyes, treasurer; and Robert Baldacci, a consultant with Baldacci Consulting Group, secretary. New board members include Peter DeWitt, head of talent marketing and community relations for IDEXX; Thomas Kelly, vice president, finance of Hannaford Supermarkets; Sara McLaughlin, accounting and finance consultant; and Mike Wilson, executive vice president and COO of Great Falls Marketing.

Achievements

David Gibson, professor of geology at the University of Maine at Farmington, was awarded the “Undergraduate Research Mentor Award” for 2019 by the Geosciences Division of the Council on Undergraduate Research. The annual award is given to recognize the critical work of a Geoscience faculty member who serves as a role model for productive and transformative student-faculty mentoring relationships.

Allen Insurance and Financial in Camden announced that Cameron Gartley, a personal insurance account executive, earned an Accredited Adviser in Insurance designation from the American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters.

Environmental Health Strategy Center, a health advocacy group in Portland, named Mustafa Santiago Ali, an international environmental justice advocate, the winner of its “2019 Frank Hatch Environmental Health Leadership Award;” Fred Stone, owner and operator of Stoneridge Farm, as the “2019 Grassroots Leadership Award;” Lani Graham, a family physician, its “2019 Bettie Kettell Award for an Outstanding Health Professional;” state Rep. Jessica Fay, Sen. Robert Foley and House Majority Leader Ryan Fecteau its “Legislative Leadership Award” winners; and Biofine Developments Northeast Inc. was the winner the “2019 Sustainable Business Leadership Award.”

Portland Water District said it received the “2019 Public Communications Award” from the New England Water Works Association, the region’s largest and oldest not-for-profit organization of water works professionals. This award recognizes excellence in communications through comprehensive public outreach materials and programs.

Lee Ann Szelog, president and keynote speaker at Simply Put LLC, was selected to speak at the New York State Conference of Mayors and Municipal Officials Fall Training School on the subjects of time management and communication. Szelog said she was also selected to speak at the Maine City Clerks Annual Networking Day on the Best Tips for Professionals.

Ecomaine CEO Kevin Roche spoke at the Lewiston Public Library’s Great Falls Forum on a panel titled The Ecology and Economy of Recycling.

Spurwink, a Portland-based nonprofit that provides behavioral health and educational services for children, adults and families, named Janine Roberts, Westbrook chief of police, its “Humanitarian Award” winner and The Boulos Co./Boulos Asset Management its “Corporate Care Award” winner.

Cumberland County Federal Credit Union in Falmouth announced its was named “Best-In-State Credit Union” by Forbes Magazine.

Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington announced that Sarah Dyar earned a nursing certification in chemotherapy/biotherapy administration from the Oncology Nursing Certification Corp. Dyar is a registered nurse at the hospital.

MDI Biological Laboratory scientists Jarod Rollins and Aric Rogers, co-corresponding authors, had a paper, “Dietary Restriction Induces Post-transcriptional Regulation of Longevity Genes,” published in the journal Life Science Alliance.

Amanda Corson, a personal insurance account executive with LS Robinson Co. insurance in Southwest Harbor, earned the designation of Certified Insurance Counselor.

Bert Languet, a certified financial planner at Golden Pond Wealth Management in Waterville, attended the 2019 Fearless Investing Summit in Boston.

Nancy Marshall, founder and CEO of Marshall Communications in Augusta, served on the panel of judges for the fifth episode of “Greenlight Maine.”

Deb Neuman, president and CEO of the Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce, received the “2019 Juliette Award” from the Girl Scouts of Maine. The award is presented annually to a woman who exemplifies accomplishment, leadership, community involvement and most importantly, is a role model for girls and young women.

Raymond White, a physician at Maine Medical Partners — Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, was named the “Community Surgeon Achievement Award” winner by the American Fracture Association and the Orthopaedic Trauma Association.
