Northern Light Mercy Hospital welcomes trio of new specialists

Northern Light Mercy Hospital has brought on three new specialists to join the wound and hyperbaric medicine department.

The new medical staffers will provide assessments, testing and treatment, including hyperbaric oxygen therapy, for people suffering from acute and hard-to-heal wounds.

Angela Meyer

Angela Meyer is a board-certified physician with a background in emergency medicine. 
Before joining the wound clinic, she was an emergency department physician at Mercy Hospital for over a decade. 

She earned her medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and completed a residency in emergency medicine at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. Meyer earned her master’s in public health from Tufts University in Boston, and a bachelor's in biology and human nutrition from Virginia Polytechnic and State University in Blacksburg Virginia. 

Tammie Hutchinson is a family nurse practitioner and a certified wound and ostomy nurse.

Her experience includes the cause of wounds, dressing care, nutrition and wound healing, as well as educating patients on lifestyle modifications that promote future wound prevention.  Hutchinson has been employed by Mercy Hospital for nearly 18 years. 

Hutchinson is board-certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and holds a wound and ostomy certification from Emory University. She received her associate’s in nursing from the University of New England and earned her bachelor’s from the University of Southern Maine and received her master’s at Husson University.

Jamei Murphy is an advanced practice registered nurse and has several years of experience in the care and treatment of wounds caused by pressure, diabetes, vascular issues, burn trauma, postoperative complications, and more.

As an experienced educator, Murphy has served as a preceptor for students enrolled in the physician assistant program at the University of New England

Murphy is certified by the American Board of Wound Management. She is a member of the Maine Nurse Practitioner Association and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She received her nursing degree from Regis College, a master’s in family nurse practitioner, and also earned a bachelor’s in science from Eastern Nazarene College.
