Norway Savings Bank has promoted Jacob Gikas to become the branch manager of its Scarborough location.
In addition to helping customers and overseeing day-to-day operations there, Gikas works on the business account specialist team and as part of the bank’s wellness team. He also is active in the Norway Savings GROW program, a mentorship program that encourages team members to reach their goals and thrive in their careers.
“I have a great team and find building relationships with and assisting our customers, both personal and business, so gratifying," Gikas told Mainebiz. "It’s an amazing place to be and I’m very grateful for all of the opportunities.”
Gikas joined Norway Savings Bank in 2021 as a customer relations representative. Since then, he has served in various roles at the Scarborough branch, including being promoted to customer relations representative II in 2023.
“There’s been a lot to learn — which I love,” said Gikas. “Leading a team and focusing on the development of that team has been rewarding in and of itself.
"Continuing to develop relationships with customers and local business owners while assisting with their financial needs is so fulfilling.”
The Portland native is a graduate of the University of Southern Maine.
“Jacob has demonstrated consistent, natural leadership and an aptitude for developing and growing genuine relationships,” said Randy Easler, senior vice president and senior retail banking officer for Norway Savings.
“Over the last three years, he has provided outstanding customer service and built a strong rapport with our Scarborough customers.”
Norway Savings Bank ranked No. 7 among the largest Maine-based banks, based on assets of $1.83 billion on June 30, 2023, according to the 2024 Mainebiz Book of Lists.
