Pen Bay to team up with MaineHealth
Pen Bay Healthcare will work more closely with MaineHealth under a new agreement announced yesterday.
Pen Bay, based in Rockland, said it made a "strategic affiliation" with MaineHealth, the parent company of Maine Medical Center in Portland, that will allow it to make bulk purchases with MaineHealth and jointly implement an electronic medical records system, among other elements of the agreement.
"For us to go it alone and invest in some of these initiatives, like electronic medical records, would be a costly endeavor for us solely," Christopher Burke, Pen Bay spokesperson, told Mainebiz this morning.
MaineHealth's board of trustees approved the contract Dec. 6, about three weeks after it was approved by Pen Bay incorporators.
