"As secretary and a member of the executive committee, I will now be responsible for ensuring effective documentation of organizational decisions and managing official communications within the board," said Jean. Furthermore, I will be focused on broader organizational governance, facilitating greater strategic alignment and operational effectiveness at a national level."

Before joining Piper Shores as CEO in June 2022, Jean was the executive director at Seabrook Village in New Jersey.

"In my capacity as CEO and as part of our organizational charitable mission at Piper Shores, volunteering on local and national organizations is important because it fosters leadership development, enhances organizational brand reputation, and strengthens community engagement," Jean told Mainebiz. "It also provides valuable skills for leading and managing teams, builds relationships, and contributes to positive social impact."

He has been a licensed nursing care administrator since 1996 and is also a fellow of the American College of Health Care Administrators. In addition to other board appointments and volunteer positions, Jean is an exam writer and subject matter expert for the National Association of Long-Term Care Administrators board test.

Jean was raised in Lewiston, attended high school at St. Dominic’s Academy, and later earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Maine. He then attended Husson University in Bangor, where he earned an MBA with a concentration in health care management.

Built in 2001, Piper Shores is on 138 acres of oceanfront property between Higgins Beach and Prouts Neck in Scarborough. The facility includes the $14 million Holbrook Memory Care and Assisted Living apartment complex completed in 2017.

Based in Washington, D.C., the ACHCA is a nonprofit association for health care administrators that focuses on leadership and excellence in post-acute and aging services care across the spectrum of health care services. The organization provides professional certification, career development opportunities, ongoing education and networking. There are almost two dozen state chapters, including one in Maine.
