Avesta Housing in Portland hired Jennifer Hawkins as president and CEO. Hawkins most recently served as president and CEO of One Neighborhood Builders in Providence, R.I.

Legacy Properties Sotheby’s International Realty, a luxury real estate firm in Portland, hired Michael Hardy as a real estate professional in Kennebunk.

Lynch Group, a family-owned holding company in Bangor managing several businesses in transportation, logistics, data management and commercial real estate, hired Matt Borden as vice president of finance.

Great Diamond Partners, a financial planner in Portland, hired Stephen Poulos as a senior financial advisor and Mark Doehla as a portfolio manager. Poulos was with HeadInvest while Doehla was at H.M. Payson.

The city of Bangor hired Carollynn Lear as city manager. Lear was previously with the IRS in the Office of the Taxpayer Advocate.

MaineHealth in Portland hired Alex Keuroghlian as chief of MaineHealth Behavioral Health and chair of psychiatry at MaineHealth Maine Medical Center. Keuroghlian previously served as the Michele & Howard J. Kessler chair and director of the Division of Public and Community Psychiatry at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor hired Marcel Casasola and Fatjon Hoxha as pulmonologists. Both doctors specialize in caring for patients with lung, breathing and sleeping conditions.

Sebago Technics, a multi-disciplinary consulting firm in South Portland, hired Shannon Stone as director of employee experience. Stone was senior HR business partner at HCA Healthcare in Portsmouth, N.H.

KidsPeace, a private charity based in Schnecksville, Pa. with numerous Maine locations that is dedicated to serving the behavioral and mental health needs of children, families and communities, hired Ashley Calle as vice president of development and communications. Calle was previously communications manager at Hackensack Meridian Health Foundation.

The Maine Center for Entrepreneurs in Portland hired Eric Waters as CFO.

Promotions

VIP Tires & Service in Auburn promoted Melissa Lemont to service manager in Farmingdale. Lemont was previously service manager II in Bath.

The Maine Center for Entrepreneurs in Portland promoted Elissa Pike English to integrated marketing, systems and operations specialist.

The city of Portland promoted Phil Doughty to IT director. Doughty was previously IT system administrator.

Philip Jean

Piper Shores, a nonprofit life plan retirement community in Scarborough, said that Philip Jean, CEO, was elected to serve as secretary of the American College of Health Care Administrators.

Saint Joseph’s College of Maine in Standish added Bernice Bradin, Mark Duval, Margaret Hourigan, Alan Lapoint, Dan Marques, Nate Martell and Sally White to its board of trustees. Bradin is retired vice president and CFO of Lesley University; Duval is a business executive; Hourigan is a retired educator and administrator; Lapoint is president and CEO of Strainrite Cos.; Marques is chief digital officer at Heydude; Martell is executive vice president, chief risk officer and general counsel at Machias Savings Bank; and White is principal and owner of SAW Consulting Services.

Achievements

Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor and MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta were both recognized at the Platinum Level in the 2025 Gold Star Standards of Excellence program, part of the MaineHealth Center for Tobacco Independence’s Breathe Easy Initiative, for efforts to prohibit smoking and tobacco use on campus and addressing patient tobacco use.

The Maine Academy of Modern Music in Portland named its “2025 Community Rock Stars.” Brian Corcoran was named the “2025 community Champion;” Herb Ivy, “2025 Maine Music Community Leader;” Sue Barre, “2025 Maine Music Educator of the Year;” Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Maine, “2025 Community Partner;” and Bayside Bowl, “2025 Community Sponsor.”

The Maine Small Business Development Centers in Portland selected Christine Cole as its “2025 State Star.” Cole is a senior business advisor at the Maine SBDC at University of Southern Maine. The organization also recognized Business Advisors Jon Janson, Dan McDonald, Brendan Craig, Jenn Dobransky, Dion Olmstead and Vien Dobui for receiving their Core Competencies Certification from the New England Professional Development group.

Haley Ward Inc., an employee-owned professional engineering, architecture, environmental, planning, BIM and surveying consulting firm, announced that it received a “National Recognition Award” from the American Council of Engineering Companies in the 2025 Engineering Excellence Awards for its work on the Tekakapimek Contact Station at Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument.

Bob Steneck, professor emeritus of oceanography, marine biology and marine policy at the University of Maine in Orono, was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. The university also announced that Melissa Ladenheim, associate dean of the Honors College, was named the “2025 Outstanding Professional Employee” by the University of Maine Employees Advisory Council.

Bar Harbor Bank & Trust honored its employees at its annual Chairman’s Dinner and Celebration. The National Council on Aging named the Maine Council on Aging in Brunswick its “2025 Innovator Award” winner.

The American Institute of Architects Maine Chapter announced its “2025 Design Award Winners.” WBRC Inc. with Ellenzweig, Ferland Engineering Education & Design Center; Knickerbocker Group, The Honeymoon Cottage; and Whitten Architects, The Narrows, were “Honor Award: Built” winners; Woodhull, Green Haven; 30X40 Design Workshop LLC, The Outpost; Susan T Rodriguez | Architecture with OPAL, Paul J. Horch Roofing in Warren said that Stacey Lytton, COO, became the first person in New England to be named a “Top 5” finalists for a “QXO National Woman in Roofing Award.”

The Auburn Business Association named Auburn City Manager Phil Crowell as its “2025 Auburn Business Association Citizen of the Year.”
