Portland company faces $1.25M ruling over sea urchin imports
The Portland-based ISF Trading Co. has pleaded guilty to illegally importing live Canadian sea urchins valued at $172,800.
According to the Portland Press Herald, ISF Trading imported approximately 48,000 pounds of urchins over eight separate occasions, falsely saying that the urchins came from a supplier licensed to export the urchins into the country.
ISF Trading is now looking at a possible five years of probation, and fines and forfeitures totaling $1.25 million stemming from the illegal imports, the Press Herald reports.
