Five Portland businesses from a matcha cafe to a housing developer will be recognized next month at the city’s Annual Business Awards for their contributions to the local economy.
Recipients include Matcha Mood, a downtown cafe owned by three sisters from Thailand who have “revolutionized the local beverage scene with their vibrant matcha drinks and dessert shop,” according to a news release.
Matcha Mood will receive the Portland Development Corp. Client of the Year award at the Nov. 20 event, which will mark the 27th anniversary of the awards program. (Scroll down for event details.)
"The businesses selected by the board this year share a deep commitment to doing business in Portland," Nancy Martin, the city's business programs manager within the Housing & Economic Development Department, said in a statement emailed to Mainebiz. "Each one makes the city a wonderful place in which to live, work, shop, eat, drink and create."
The awards will be presented at an event on Thursday, Nov. 20, at the Ocean Gateway from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
