Redevelopment authority expects 400 jobs in 2014

The Midcoast Regional Redevelopment Authority expects companies at Brunswick Landing will employ nearly 400 people by the end of 2014, in its latest status report.

Steve Levesque, MRRA’s executive director, wrote in a recent newsletter that the redevelopment authority has so far transferred nearly 260 acres and 24 buildings at the former Brunswick Naval Air Station to private sector uses. As of July 17, nearly 214 people were employed by companies at the base and the incoming class at the Southern Maine Community College campus is expected to have around 700 students.

The redevelopment authority reported Wild Oats Cafe also leased new space at Brunswick Landing, where it will be the first eatery to open at the former base in the fall.
