SMCC reopens after bomb threat Monday

Southern Maine Community College evacuated its South Portland campus and two others in Brunswick and Bath after an anonymous caller warned Monday morning of three bombs on campus.

The threats shut down the community college system for most of the day as investigators scoured 45 buildings on the three campuses with bomb-sniffing dogs and found nothing, according to the Portland Press Herald.

Authorities were unable to trace the threat call, received at 8:42 a.m., which pulled 2,000 students out of class Monday morning and kept the college system on alert until 4 p.m.
