Travel writer weighs in on Portland vs. Portland

SmarterTravel, a travel website, takes on the task of comparing two frequently confused locations, Portland, Maine, and Portland, Ore.

Both have foodie scenes, both have outdoor attractions, both have craft breweries galore. The Oregon city is bigger, but the Maine city is older.

“Portland, Maine, and Portland, Oregon, sit on opposite coasts but have eerily similar reputations,” writes Shannon McMahon. “After visiting both, I discovered both concrete historical links and curious cultural similarities.”
