Sea Bags and Rugged Seas — two Maine makers of accessories handcrafted from repurposed nautical materials — have teamed up to create a new collaborative product.

Sea Bags and Rugged Seas have created limited-edition wristlets, beverage buckets and a large tote. The bags incorporate used sails for the body, accented with bib material from lobstermen's overalls. The bags retail for $65 to $250.

"Supporting other local businesses that have the same mission as Sea Bags fits with our DNA. When Rugged Seas presented the idea of creating a new tote that includes fishing bibs, we said 'yes' right away," Beth Greenlaw, CEO of Sea Bags, told Mainebiz.

The limited-edition collection was launched this week and will be available on the Sea Bags website.

"Initial customer response has been strong, with interest across all shapes and colors," said Laura Hnatow, vice president of marketing at Sea Bags.

“This exclusive limited-edition product is available at our Portland and Freeport, Maine, stores and our Venice, Fla., location, and many customers are shopping for it on our website," she continued.
