Alcom LLC, a Winslow-based manufacturer of aluminum trailers, on Tuesday said it has acquired an industry competitor, Triton Trailers, of Hartford, Wis.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Triton is the country's largest producer of aluminum trailers for personal watercraft and ranks second in overall aluminum trailer sales of all types, according to Alcom.

Founded in 1975, Triton has a large geographic footprint with dealers across the United States, Canada and international markets, Alcom said. The Wisconsin company also offers a line of open and enclosed snowmobile, ATV/UTV, cargo and motorcycle towing products.

“Triton has always been admired from afar and has been a strong competitor. As a leading brand name and fellow industry frontrunner, we are excited to build upon Triton’s reputation of quality and innovation,” said Alcom CEO Trapper Clark.

The Triton leadership group and production teams will remain in place while the company is integrated into the Alcom business. Alcom said it has significant growth plans for 2022 and the acquisition helps position it as a trailer industry leader.

Alcom was founded in 2006 in Waterville, and moved to 6 Millennium Drive, Winslow, in 2011. The company employs nearly 1,000 people and has a trailer portfolio of 960 standard models across 10 brands. Alcom recently opened its fourth manufacturing site, a 130,000-square-foot facility in Deland, Fla., with 70 employees, and also has plants in Bonner, Mont., and Sioux Falls, S.D.
