As Mainebiz reported, an unprecedented global technology outage wreaked havoc July 19 at airports, banks and broadcasters.

Airlines were especially hard hit. American, United and Delta all grounded flights early that morning due to the outage. Travel was delayed at Portland International Jetport and Bangor International Airport.

And there were other ripple effects from the IT snafu. Some city services in Bangor were disrupted, and Maine banks had to deal with operational problems.
